Talking about nostalgia, talking about childhood heroes,..
I just got myself this mint condition 1989 Ibanez Jem,.. I remember when Steve Vai’s album Passion and Warfare came out in 1990. I was taking classical guitar lessons at the time and listening to Brain Setzer (Stray Cats) a lot. I was in my room practising and when I stopped for a minute I heard some amazing guitar playing coming from my brother’s room.
I went to him and I said who’s this???
He was like, this is some guy called Steve Vai, it just came out, I don’t like it, do you want it? So I ofcourse I said yes!!!!
I could not believe you could do all that with an electric guitar! So thanks bro for that!
I immediatly stopped with the classical guitar lessons and got me some electric guitar lessons by Mark van Gaalen who sadly now passed away, still miss him a lot.
Mark tought me so much cool stuff and got me all ready to go to G.I.T. (Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles) where I later met Steve Vai thanks to his manager Ruta Sepetys.
Anyway, I play mostly Fender Telecaster’s now but this Ibanez Jem is really a trip down memeory lane :)

I bought these really cool machines from Tim Hendricks.
The first on is a Hoot-Rat Machine build by Tim and engraved by Dan Dringenberg, it’s a beautiful machine.
The second one is a Split-Frame called the Russel that Tim Build.
He was inspired by his good friend Russel, going for that ‘murdered out’ look that a lot of custom bikes have.

I also got tattooed again by Boog at the convention.
The London Tattoo Convention is always great.

Andy was the Godfather of rock ‘n Roll, he brought Rock ‘n Roll to Holland back in the early fifties together with his brothers “the Tielman Brothers”

I had the honor of playing some liveshows with Andy and I also recorded a song with him called “Where are you now”

Andy’s wife (Carmen Tielman) asked me to play that song on his funeral, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,…
